The Vet chose to spare Marlan's life and just remove the leg. My wife adopted him shortly after his operation and we weren't sure he was going to make it for long after the surgery but there was no shortage of love and he's been with us for almost 4 yrs now.
Marlan manages to navigate pretty well despite having 3 legs and being very small. He improvises when he needs to, using the walls as support and backing up by pushing with his front paws.
I write this because I sometimes catch myself complaining about things in life that are really quite trivial when I look at the big picture. Rather than whine about it, just put my mind to it and do it. Like Marlan.
I've included a video of Marlan below and how excited he gets when we say the word "walk". Although he does ride in a pouch for most of the walk, he does bounce around every now and again.
Below the Marlan videos there are some other pictures of dogs that "just do it" thanks to some love and support from their owners. If you're thinking of getting a pet, try getting one that needs some love and support. It's amazing how much love they will give you back in return!
