Earlier this year we had a squirrel in our attic.  I was advised by a friend that if I spayed some Fox Urine (yes, they sell it) in the attic then the smell would scare off the rodents.  I found some but also purchased a trap at the same time.  I tried the trap first and it worked so I didn't have to spray fox urine in my attic.  However...

I got the brainy idea the other day to spray it near my flowers & veggies to keep the squirrels out.  They were digging and destroying my plants.  After I sprayed it near the plants my wife let our dog, Oscar, out to pee about 3 minutes later.  He went berserk - barking and sniffing around.  It took me a second to realize he smelled the fox urine and was in "protection" mode.  I thought it was kind of cool at first.  Good boy, keeping the family safe, I thought.

Protection mode lasted for 3 hours!!  He eventually tired himself out from barking while driving us nuts at the same time.  I couldn't get mad at him, after all, it was because of me he was barking. 

The crappy thing is... the smell will be around for a while.  The good thing is... there aren't any squirrels digging!
