These Kids Can Change The World

When I look back to when I was a kid I remember guns, firecrackers and destroyed action figures that in today's market are worth a bundle.  Raising money to help out sick kids wasn't anywhere on my radar.

That's why I'm continually amazed when I read stories about kids committing selfless acts to help out other kids.  That amazement is amplified when it's my own child that's doing something to help.  You may remember me talking about this in an earlier blog, if not here's the link: click here

This past Sunday my wife, daughter and myself were part of something wonderful.  A fundraiser we helped put together with some very wonderful people to help our daughter's best friend Madi.  Madi has been busy getting better from an illness that hit her last February that landed her in Toronto at the Hospital for SickKids.  The cost of travel and medications will take their toll on Madi's mom (who just added a baby to the small family) so we decided to do something to help and it all started with something our daughter said to us: "Rather than getting gifts for my birthday this year, I'd like to have the money and give it to Maddison".

It's wonderful when a small act evolves into something huge.  We had a great time and were once again inspired by the kindness of a community to help a small girl get better.  Thank you to all who helped make the day a wonderful experience for everyone!  Click here for the story from the Barrie Examiner.
