The Worst Job In The World Is....?

Posted By: Troy McCallum · 4/12/2012 6:52:00 AM

We've all had crappy jobs.  Some of us, unfortunately, still have one.  Somebody's gotta do it!  For me, the "worst" job I ever had was working in a lumber yard at 15 yrs of age with guys that were about 50 yrs older than me.  At lunch time, we all just sat and stared at the walls eating our sandwiches not saying a word.  I did it for a day, called the guy that night and said I quit.

Fortunately, I love what I do now.  It doesn't feel like work, most days... and that's the key!

Here's an interesting article from CareerCast.com : 200 Jobs Ranked from Best to Worst . . .

They've just released their annual list ranking 200 of the most popular jobs in the U.S. from best to worst.  I guess "I'm a Lumberjack and I'm okay" (see video below) is not okay, because they came in DEAD LAST on the list.

The rankings are based on five key factors:  Physical demands, work environment, income, stress, and hiring outlook.

The top 10 best jobs, in order, are:  Software engineer, actuary, HR manager, dental hygienist, financial planner, audiologist, occupational therapist, online advertising manager, computer systems analyst, and mathematician.

The 10 worst jobs, in order, are:  Lumberjack, dairy farmer, enlisted soldier, oil rig worker, newspaper reporter, waiter/waitress, meter reader, dishwasher, butcher, and news broadcaster.
