Jon Stewart on Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/22/2013 5:14:00 AM

This has to be one of the funniest pieces I've seen in a long time.

Jon Stewart gives his take on mayoral troubles, including our mayor  allegedly caught on video smoking crack with drug dealers.

His take is classic.

What do you think about this whole situation?  Feel free to comment below and while you're at it, SHARE this blog with your friends on Facebook if you find the video funny.

14 Year-Old Shreds Some Van Halen

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/22/2013 4:47:00 AM

When I was 14, the only thing I could play on guitar was a half-assed version of John Denver's 'Take Me Home (Country Road)'.

I'm now 53 and it's still the only thing I can play.

That's why this 14 year-old girl makes me sick.

Check out how she shreds Van Halen's 'Eruption'. I don't think Eddie Van Halen can play it this well.

Sick. Sick. Sick.

RIP Ray Manzarek

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/21/2013 5:11:00 AM

The rock world suffered a huge loss yesterday.

Ray Manzarek, keyboardest for The Doors, died of cancer in Germany.    He and Jim Morrison formed the band after meeting at Venice Beach in California, back in 1965.  The Doors have sold 100 million albums worldwide.

Ray was 74 years old.  He played music on and off with Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, from 2001 up until he got sick.  He also produced a few records for other bands, and wrote two novels.

Here's Ray with The Doors from 1968 performing 'Light My Fire'.

Rest in peace, Ray.

I Like a Good Prank...and Cookies.

One of the hosts of the "Today" show in Australia messed with his co-host's teleprompter script the other day .

The Aussie co-host  was talking about a soccer match in Amsterdam, and the extra line he added was, quote, "How good are the cookies there?"  (As in pot cookies.)

Great reaction...one worthy of 'Anchorman'.

A Very Cool Lennon-McCartney Mash-Up

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/16/2013 4:56:00 AM

Thought I'd post this in honour of Wings' 'Rockshow' playing at select Cineplex theaters.

It's an awesome mash-up of John Lennon's 'Imagine' and McCartney and Wings' 'Band On the Run'.

Dig, my friends. :)

Watch the Birdie...Now, CATCH the Birdie!

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/15/2013 6:19:00 AM

Watch this guy snatch a bird out of mid-air with his bare hand.

Now, there's a promo for a new book by NFL quarterback Colt McCoy right after it so some people think it's fake.

I don't care either way. It just looks cool!

Is This Part of the Tour?

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/14/2013 6:49:00 AM

It's safe to say that most of us have been fired at least once in our lives.

The reasons vary, of course : being late, stealing supplies, insubordination, etc.

Then, there's this:

A safari tour guide at Kruger National Park in South Africa has been fired . . . because he got drunk and decided to charge a wild elephant. Luckily . . . for him at least . . . the elephant got spooked and ran off.

Not sure if his employers had 'just cause'. :)

'Space Oddity' from, well, SPACE!!!

Posted By: Stu Jeffries · 5/13/2013 4:52:00 AM

Chris Hadfield has been commander of the International Space Station for the past five months and today he's finally heading back to Earth.

But first he made one more video, and it might be his best.  It's a cover of David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' with some of the lyrics changed, so it's not all about being STRANDED in space.

And he posted a cool music video for it that he shot entirely on the Space Station.

Thanks, Commander. Welcome home!
