We've heard about dogs saving people from all sorts of dangers. They bark when a fire breaks out, they jump into water to save kids from drowning, they drag injured people out of harms way and the list goes on.

I mean, the inspiration for Lassie had to come from somewhere.

So far, my dog Timbit has shown no such noble abilities but then thankfully, he hasn't been called upon to do anything like that. So far he has earned his keep by just being ridiculously cute and loving.

But here's a dog, Duke, who really stepped up to the plate in the most amazing way. There was no smoke, no fire, nobody submerged in water. Just a little baby who in the middle of the night, quietly stopped breathing.
