Earlier this year, a New Jersey teen with leukemia asked Taylor Swift to go to prom with him.  She said she couldn't, but offered to take him to the ACM Awards instead.  Now, a Colorado teen is hoping for a similar response. Devon Whitney,a 19 teen year old who has a rare disorder called OPD, has made a video asking Taylor to his prom. Over 3000 people have viewed it. 

This whole thing of asking celebs out for a date via youtube videos started with a soldier in Afghanistan asking Mila Kunis out for a date last year.  She was pushed into going publicly on aTV interview show,  by Justin Timberlake. They were doing publicity for a movie together and when the topic of the video came up, he said , yeah you should go Mila! He then was also asked out by a soldier. I remember thinking ... good ... cos he deserved to be put in the same awkward position. Then it was Myley Cyrus, Rhianna, Selena Gomez, Justin Beiber and the list of celebrities who have been put on the spot goes on.  And that's what it is .... being put on the the spot, because for celebs there's no easy way out of this. You look like your heartless if you don't comply with some of these requests.

Performing for the troops, visiting hospitals and attending charity events, I feel are all part of what could be reasonably expected from celebrities. But attending events as an individual person's date, I find wildly inappropriate.  No one should have to go on a date with anyone they don't really know or with someone whom they sincerely would not like to go on a date. I feel sorry for these folks forced to go on these dates for the sake of "good publicity". This,from both a personal and publicity standpoint, as far as I can tell, is a celebrity nightmare and really it needs to stop.

It's just wrong!

Unless, I can just ask Johnny Depp to let me be his date for his new movie Dark Shadows ... hahaha!!
