The answer, my friend is blowing in the wind...

Packing my bags. Moving to Italy. Just need to furnish my forest apartment and buy a hybrid to drive across my solar wind bridge.

First the Bosco Verticale, now solar and wind power-generating viaducts? This world would be cleaned up in no time if we gave it to the Italians. This proposed “Solar Wind Park” project would turn an unused viaduct in Italy into a massive clean energy generator by installing wind turbines between the columns, and coating the road with solar cells.

The power generated by the turbines alone would generate enough energy to power 15,000 homes. By comparison, Toronto’s ExPlace wind turbine can power about 100 homes. Green space and a farmer’s market would also occupy half of the roadway.
The idea is runner-up in a competition to design an eco-friendly way to re-use abandoned viaducts, so who knows if it will ever actually be built, much less work.

The winning idea is to turn a whole bridge, columns and all, into a sustainable community. Both are great ideas, but I’ve already settled on living in the forest building, so now I’m hoping for a Solar Wind bridge!
