Urban Forest: Welcome to the jungle

A vertical forest now ranks pretty high on my list of dream homes. Check out Milan’s “Bosco Verticale”, a groundbreaking 27-storey urban accommodation being built in Milan, Italy. Bosco Verticale is a clean, green, energy-efficient apartment tower with a thick coat of vegetation.
 
Having trees worked into your balcony is a pretty neat idea. There may be a few possible holes in the plan – risk of fire, risk of top heaviness, risk of termites, risk of noisy bird populations, etc. – but I think the vertical forest has real potential for one of the most polluted cities in Europe.
 
It reminds me of the building across from the ROM that has pretty little uniform green plants dotted along the outside. Except these are full-grown trees, and they’re everywhere! Full grown trees that clean the air and reduce your hydro bill. My kind of house plant. Then again I can’t even seem to keep a cactus alive.
