When Pete Willis left Def Leppard, Phil Collen was asked to join by Steve Clark and Joe Eliott. Collen took this place after an audition performing Photograph. He and fellow guitarist Clark quickly bonded, becoming close friends and leading to the trademark dual-guitar sound of Def Leppard. Cain aided Journey's rise to the top of the charts starting with the album Escape, composing and playing the piano on songs such as "Don't Stop Believing", described as "one of the best opening keyboard riffs in rock". He later met guitarist Robert Sarzo and and bassest Tony Cavazo (brothers of Rudy Sarzo and Carlos Cavazo, respectively, of Quiet Rito fame), with whom he formed the hard-rock band Hurricane in 1984. Hansen then went on to join Foreigner in 2005 after Lou Gramm left in 2003 to pursue his solo career.
