Yesterday she showed up to co-host the hour with Ellen and they did a couple of fun sketches together.  Ellen had Matthew Perry on as co-host a couple of months ago and this was used as the catalyst for the first sketch involving Perry and Courtney Cox. Aniston showed up at Perry's home for co-hosting advice. In case you missed it ... this is what transpired.   And while Aniston didn't commit to Ellen about wanting to do a full fledged Friends reunion, she did say, "Doing that little bit with Matty and Court yesterday was...we were very nostalgic and miss working together." And while our neighbors to the south have suffered dearly at the hands of tornadoes, in Canada, we are 80% more likely to die from  lightning strikes than from tornadoes. Each year lightning kills approximately 10 Canadians and injures approximately 100 to 150 others. So I went to the Environment Canada website where they had some great information on what you should do when a thunder storm strikes. Here's what they say: The first and most important thing to remember is that if you can hear thunder, you are within striking distance of lightning. Take shelter immediately, preferably in a house or all-metal automobile (not convertible top). If caught outside far from a safe shelter, stay away from tall objects, such as trees, poles, wires and fences. Take shelter in a low lying area. Especially when it's a key cast member like Kristen Wiig just last year.   This morning I read that Fred Armison and Jason Sudeikas are leaving too. This info comes on the heels of Bill Hader leaving. “It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Mr. Hader said in an interview. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’ ” Hader's been there for 8 years and been nominated for an EMMY for his work. He's got a huge repetoire of funny impersonations but my fave was his Stefon character. And many people adored this quirky City Correspondent for Weekend Update. I actually made sure I didn't miss the beginning of the game just because I so badly wanted to hear and see him sing the national anthems before our Leaf home games against the Bruins. He brought such an intensity, pride and joy to singing the anthems that I was mesmerized.   His name is 2nd Lt. Scotty Newlands and although he sang both anthems with equal fervour, he says on an emotional level he prefers to sing O Canada! He's been singing for over 20 years and even once auditioned for Canadian Idol. He didn't  make it through but he has released an album. And I hope he becomes our permanent go to guy for sporting event anthems! Lt. Scotty - YOU ROCK!!! Even if you get one of those handy screw caps this is helpful. I didn't know about the wine touching the metal protector at the top making a difference in the flavour. Here's a great recipe for Sangria!  I think this should be the official drink of summer. This wine based drink is so summery,  light and refreshing. I  made a double batch last weekend for a party. I posted this in a blog last year at this same time and found that several people liked it so here it is again.  The trick is to follow the 24 hour marinade suggestion.  It's best that way. Justin Hines will open the night and then the bands will compete. They include The Grinn, Bora North, Oui B. Jamon, Dark Horse, Superfire and The Shroud of Gaia.  This is fun night of music in the spirit of fundraising.
