Album Review

Another volume in the Elements series, Elements: Living in Harmony features a DVD of wildlife landscapes as well as a companion CD soundtrack. Elements: Living in Harmony's music is some of the most traditionally new agey in the Elements series, mixing nature sounds with gentle acoustic instrumentals. The dulcimers, harps, and guitars on "In the Beginning," "Nature's Beauty," and "Enchanted Lakes" make a lovely contrast to the chirping birds and flowing water sounds that decorate the album. Elements: Living in Harmony comes close to stereotypical new age instrumentals on "Aquatic Peace" and "Way of Life," but for the most part the music is both restrained and flowing, and sidesteps most of the conventional pitfalls of the style. Overall, Elements: Living in Harmony is a unique and relaxing combination of sound and vision that keeps things refreshingly simple.
