Album Review

Former Art of Noise keyboardist Anne Dudley, already establishing herself as an accomplished film composer (The Crying Game, The Full Monty, American History X), steps out with her official solo debut album in Ancient and Modern. A fusion of new age-style atmospherics, avant-garde classical minimalism, and the music of church-oriented composers such as Bach or Thomas Tallis, the album is a strongly spiritual statement, peaceful rather than searching. As such, it stands a strong chance of appealing to both new age and open-minded classical listeners alike.
