Album Review

While the title of this collection would seem like a generic rock & roll oldies set, in fact it's two discs filled to the brim with biggies from the 1940s. Covering everything from hits by Louis Jordan, the Andrew Sisters, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee, Bob Wills, the Mills Brothers, Dinah Shore, Ella Fitzgerald, and Al Jolson to the big bands like Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Spike Jones, Harry James, Woody Herman, and Artie Shaw, this box set makes an excellent overview of the era's biggest hits. Nice, clean transfers of the original recordings is a big plus with this collection.
