Taken together, the two Lively Ones best-of volumes have 47 tracks, so this disc might more properly be titled "The Rest of the Lively Ones" rather than The Best of the Lively Ones, Vol. 2. It's an inferior companion to the first volume, comprised mostly of covers of surf and instrumental standards by the Beach Boys, Dick Dale, Duane Eddy, and various one-shot hits. In no cases are these covers better than the originals, and while sometimes they're pretty well-done, at others they're distinctly weaker, especially on the instrumental versions of Beach Boys and Jan & Dean songs.
