Over-Rationalizing Quitting Smoking

Time to quit. How to do it?

Let's see; do like last time and simply go on the patch. No, but then what about the habitual part of the smoking process? Okay, then maybe put on the patch and suck on an unlit cigarette at the same time. Or, even better; chew the nicotine gum most of the time and have the occasional cigarette in between. Better still, use a water-vapour electronic cigarette which has no chemicals...yeah, maybe do that but have the odd real cigarette in between. But, appearantly, they've been known to explode. Okay, so just wear a hard hat and goggles while smoking that and sneaking the odd cig. Then again, the patch really works, so maybe do that and risk having the odd butt 3 hours after removing patch each night. Noooo; don't wanna risk it. Patch, gum, electronic cig, carrot sticks, chew regular gum, suck ice cubes with a couple of cigarettes sticking out of your ears. Or maybe just cut down by one cigarette a day until you get down to zero?....

...this is getting ridiculous.

Just put the cigarettes down and walk away!   

Done.
